Weekly tips for better grades with less stress from The Grade Coach

A Note From Julie

Hi ,

I have just returned from vacation - 9 states in 14 days! Sorry this newsletter is a little late, I slept most of yesterday! We had a great time on our Rocky Mountain road trip but underestimated just how tiring it would be!

As we toured around and saw some of the country's wonders it struck me how easy it is to lose sight of the things that can bring you deep joy. As we get absorbed in our day to day grind we can forget to make time for the things we love.  We can sometimes even forget what those things are.

This inspired this week's advice. I am trying to keep it short and sweet over the summer - cos I know you would rather be off having fun!

As usual I will go into each in more depth in my blog. Drop by share your summer plans and let me know what you think   http://thegradecoach.com/coach/blog
Have a great summer.
Wishing happiness and success

I am really excited about this product because it will allow students who I cannot help personally have access to a lot of the same information and exercises that I use in my intensive coaching program. It is like having me with you in a binder!
It is designed for older students (High school Junior and above) to use independently or for the parents of younger students to use to coach them through the process.

How to Use the Summer to Help You Through School!

When we are caught up in all the things we have to do in life it can be easy to lose track of who we really are. "I need to..." becomes much more common than "I would love to...". It is so easy to get bogged down and focus on the things we need to change that we forget to recognize the strengths we have.

It is easy to lose sight of the things that can bring you deep joy. As we get absorbed in our day to day grind we can forget to make time for the things we love.  We can sometimes even forget what those things are.

And yet it is those things that can help us get through the year, give us a reason to keep going through the pressure and stress.

Make some time this summer to reconnect with yourself.  It will give you a good basis for building on next year.

  • Think about your strengths and weaknesses
  • Think about what you love and what you loathe
  • Think about how you learn best
  • Think about what you need to make good decisions

Take that information and consider how you can use it to help you next year.

  • What can you do to enhance your strengths and play to the things you love?
  • How can you improve your weak areas and get through things you hate?
  • How can you make sure you have what you need for good decisions more of the time?
  • How can you build in joy in your life in small amounts of time?

Think about these things now when the pressure is off and they will come to you much easier than when you are feeling under pressure. Let the answers come to you in peaceful moments, and then capture them so they do not get forgotten. Write them down or find pictures that speak to you and create a vision board. Something you can look at when the pace starts picking up again.

If you or your child are struggling to control your time and get the results you know you are capable of then it is time to take action.  The Focused Time Management System TM for Students avoids all the clutter and gives you the most important things to focus on to get you back in control of your time and your life. It's all step by step, not a big mish mash of things. So you do step one of the system, and when you're done with that, you move on to step two, and so on. So easy!  All the tips, tools, and worksheets are handed to you on a silver platter.  E mail me at Julie@thegradecoach.com to arrange a time to chat over your issues and see if I can help.
