Weekly tips for better grades with less stress from The Grade Coach

A Note From Julie

Hi ,

I hope you are having a wonderful summer.  Already the time seems to be speeding past. This newsletter is now on its two weekly summer schedule and as you read this issue I will be living it up in Vegas as part of our 7 states tour! We always have ambitious vacation plans - I will try and keep you posted on our progress via Facebook. If you haven't already you can friend me up at http://www.facebook.com/julie.baird1 or become a fan here.

As we return from vacation on July 20th I am feeling like summer is already half way done and beginning to think of all the things I wanted to do this year. I don't want to end up in the fall looking back and regretting missed chances.

This week's articles are inspired by this thought, and encourage you to take a positive approach to getting the most from your summer

As usual I will go into each in more depth in my blog. Drop by share your summer plans and let me know what you think   http://thegradecoach.com/coach/blog

Have a great summer.
Wishing happiness and success

Focused Time Management System - For School and Beyond

I am really excited about this product because it will allow students who I cannot help personally have access to a lot of the same information and exercises that I use in my intensive coaching program. It is like having me with you in a binder!
It is designed for older students (High school Junior and above) to use independently or for the parents of younger students to use to coach them through the process.

Tips to maximize your fun this summer!

Whether you are lounging around soaking up the sun, working away for some much needed cash, or living it up with friends the summer always passes too quickly.

Before we know it back to school will be looming before us and we will all be wondering where the time went.

Summer is an important time in the school calendar. It has a vital role to play in regenerating ourselves before the onslaught of another year. It gives our bodies and brains a much needed chance to rest and relax.

So how do you make sure that you make the most of the summer and don't look back in September and remember all the things you were going to do but never got round to.

At the risk of being boo-ed out the room I am going to tell you to plan!

Plan on having fun!

Okay, okay, I know it is summer and that means freedom from schedules. I am not talking about minute by minute, or even hourly schedules here. I am just suggesting that you look at your overall plan for the summer and ask yourself:

  • What you want to achieve?
  • What fun activities would you love to do?
  • What places do you want to visit?
  • What do you want to do that will allow you to totally relax?
  • What would you like to do to help you grow as a person?
  • What do you want to do to prepare yourself for next year?

Now check with how this sits with your commitments to family, job or whatever. If you are involving others how does it fit with their commitments?

I have seen too many things fall flat because of conflicts with vacations!

Plan in some dates, yes they can be flexible especially if they are weather dependent. But it gives you a rough guide to go from.

Make sure you hit the ones that really matter to you early on, so you can plan round others if you need to.

For example, if you want to have a beach trip with your close friends before you all take off for different schools; plan early so you can find a slot that merges with every family's schedules. (Don't forget a rain date too!)

Remember (and I can say this with the benefit of age) that when we look back at a time in our lives, it is always the things that we did that we remember fondly, rarely the time spent sleeping the day away because we had no plans!

Have a great summer, and have some great experiences to keep you going the rest of the year!
